Please enjoy viewing photo's of my collection. I'm not a bird Farm' I'm a hobbyist who's had birds my entire life and enjoy raising them. Birds I keep are my bloodline established by selective breeding by individual pairing's. I began with good birds I was able to obtain and started just as I did with pigeons my father bought me as a child to develop quality birds. I do add bird or birds to incorporate only from close friends in Sacramento and other states to diversify bloodline. I'm well known around the bird world domestically & internationally. I get contacted to purchase my bloodline within the states and for export. I'm strict in producing low number's to not compromise quality versus quantity. I've never put extra value if the bird is Opaline, Pied etc.. Bird prices are based on pedigree & bloodline.
True Blue, many breeders haven't a clue what a True Blue is or looks like! I've seen so many claiming True Blue when in reality is just a blue series bird. True Blue popped out and developed by a close friend and isn't a selectively bred bird. A True is hatched as such. It can be produced by any blue series mutation as long as both birds are proven splits..

I've established one of the cleanest and best bloodlines in the lower 48 and abroad. I have spent years selectively breeding blues, cinnamon and pallid to establish quality bloodlines in blue white face and Opaline, Cobalt, Edge dilute also known as American silver and Marble, blue turquoise, violet dominant pied, recessive pied in green, turquoise and blue series recessive, turquoise, violet, pallid, and phenotype combinations. My friends and I have Quality and Rare Mutations developed by us.
I've raised & bred birds since I was 8 year's old. I've selectively bred to produce the best birds from pairs based on genetic makeup which is tracked on software program. I've always produced very low numbers to not compromise quality' but after 51 years I'm refocusing my energy in another direction. I travel extensively now being retired, visiting friends in Northern California, other states, attending bird show's in lower 48, Canada and Europe throughout the year. When in down time for myself, I'm either in California or at my other residence in Central Texas. I've reduced my lovebird collection to only 14 top level birds and added Exhibition (English) Budgies. I achieved my knowledge by educating myself in genetics by reading books, knowing and speaking with top breeders in the United States and internationally. I've bred Indian Ring Necks, Plum Heads, Rosellas, Canary's, Pigeons, Sierra (Amara) Parakeets, Parotlet's, Scarlet chested, Turquoisines, Bourkes, Elegant's, Blue Wings , Red Rumps, Cockatiels, Finches and other rare species in rare mutations through the years or better said decades.
My primary focus in Peach Face was White face Opaline in Violet, Blue single and double factor, Dominant Violet pied, Turquoise, Blue turquoise, Recessive turquoise pied, Blue recessive pied, Violet pallid, Edge dilute (Marble) in violet and blues and phenotype combinations (Powder Blue - Gray Wing) in single and dark factor visual's. My blue X blue will produce only blue, Edge X Edge = 100 % Edge. Only my phenotype pairs will produce various mutations. To continue traveling and dividing my time between California and my other home's in Utah and Texas was the reason I downsized my collection. Eventually I'll make the decision within the net two years to make all birds available as the time to end the hobby is approaching.
If you’re a novice just starting and unfamiliar with Opaline; They can be Visual Red, Orange, White, Yellow and Apricot colored heads in a wide range of colors. You may view my breeding pairs and gallery for reference by clicking page tab' however my birds are white head or white face only and have deleted pictures of birds I no longer keep or have. Apricot forehead is the result of white face violet crossed with aqua or orange face with either the blue or violet. White face should never be crossed with these two mutations as their not compatible resulting in babies having dirty foreheads (apricot) or face . I highly encourage everyone to read how sex linked, dominant, recessive, co-dominant or incomplete genetics work and interact when making up pairs so you'll have a better understanding of what will be produced once a pair or pairs have chicks you won't be surprised with results by your pairing and also to purchase the right birds from the start. The aqua is a nice and beautiful mutation no doubt, but this mutation has also been compromised due to bad cross breeding by most breeders seeking to produce as many birds as possible for profit disregarding correct pairings. I won't do that as that's why by bloodline is sought nationwide and internationally. Unfortunately most of the time I do not have any available due to selling any available inventory to clients waiting for months or a year to obtain my birds. Some though have little patience and buy from another breeder and follow up asking me why they're unable to reproduce high end birds? I will not comment on birds from another seller / breeder as it would be inappropriate.
Recessive pied: Clean uncrossed lovebirds are now rare in both green and turquoise series are not for sale.
Disease: PBFD is an infectious disease past on by an infected bird but doesn't show illness. PBFD can spread by feather dust, eating from same seed bowl, kept in same cage or upon being shipped with infected bird's. It's not a flu or a cold as some claim! It's a virus and there's no known vaccination once a bird has it. It's important to quarantine new birds for no less than 30 day's. Once its in, its in and will take years to eradicate. This is where the hobbyist or breeder must make decision to either completely stop breeding, not sell for a minimum of a year or have all birds euthanized. Most breeders / hobbyist choose to destroy (Euthanize) all birds testing positive. However I must be clear this virus is now found world wide. Although there's no vaccination available to treat infected birds available in the States, there is a rumored vaccine available in Australia to vaccinate young birds, but it' expensive and not available outside of Australia that has had positive results. Treating infected birds with high quality medications (not over the counter) can cure them of decease ending up with about 90 to 95% success rate. But this is not a novice can do as over medication can also result in poisoning. Adult birds over 2 two years of age or more for an unknown reason rarely get infected. It mostly affects babies and young birds up to a year or more old. Some birds will make a full recovery on their own for reasons that still puzzles scientists, Those that do will be immune and hens will pass on immunity to off spring just like in people. But be careful and research PBFD. I've treated birds that were infected and had great success reversing infection using medicine I imported from Australia and South Africa keeping them medicated for 3 to 4 months with 98% success in isolation, some have taken longer and a few I had to euthanize. With that said, I strongly advise against breeding and selling infected birds. Infected birds normally come from bird farms as their too busy producing quantity versus quality. I want to highly emphasize birds also get infected when shipped with other birds; air line carriers don't disinfect planes cargo bay every time a plane is used. If PBFD appears in your program? I highly suggest you take all nest boxes away and avoid breeding or selling! Virus will become dormant provided no new bird is brought in. Remember to not buy or add any new bird during this time. If you do? PBFD will re-appear and mutate into another strain. I always advise novice's to buy and use Virkon S in powder form to disinfect cages, nest boxes and perches, wall's and floor and continue bi-weekly afterwards.
Bird's are and have always been a strict "hobby". Birds have never paid my living expenses, bird price's are based on pedigree, rarity of mutation, color, phenotype combination and above all quality. I'm not cheap, but remember that you get what you paid for!
If you're confused and would like learn about breeding lovebird mutations or combination breeding results? Visit ALBS, The Mutavi group or your regional club web site. Dirk Van den Abeele has a wonderful site and book written and published in English. I encourage all to visit his site and acquire his book. Lastly I can't emphasize enough reading to understand genetics. I highly recommend purchasing a book or books on mutations written by authors such as Dirk Van Den Abeele, Terry Martin, Alessandro D' Angieri, Ralph Smith (Smitty) or any reading material you're able to find.

I relocated 80% of my birds to my residence's in Utah and Texas which will enable me to supply birds to clients easier for the next few years before I give up hobby. 4 pair's remain in California.
